Android alpha now preparing for Play testing

DeeTox

DeeTox helps people reduce compulsive app use through adaptive friction, recovery controls, and accountabili-buddy approvals for protected pauses and disabling.

Full-platform alpha with guardrails.

The alpha is built to validate DeeTox's differentiated behavior: adaptive intervention intelligence, Accessibility-based friction, network disruption experiments, live notifications, accountabili-buddy, Safe Mode, and panic recovery.

Accountabili-buddy

A trusted outside person receives verification and approval codes for protected actions such as time extensions and disabling.

Adaptive interventions

The engine ranks and tunes interventions inside alpha safety caps so testing can measure which nudges help without trapping users.

Recovery-first safety

Safe Mode and panic pause are designed to restore device usability while preserving accountability protections and audit logs.

Closed alpha tester guide.

Testers should use DeeTox on a secondary or non-critical device when possible. The alpha intentionally exercises advanced Android permissions and recovery paths.

  • Complete onboarding, including permissions and app selection.
  • Add an accountabili-buddy if available; setup is preferred but skippable.
  • Verify Safe Mode before testing stronger interventions.
  • Try a protected pause and protected disable flow with buddy approval.
  • Report crashes, stuck states, notification issues, VPN conflicts, or recovery failures.

Support and recovery.

DeeTox alpha safety depends on clear recovery. If the app interferes with normal device use, use Safe Mode or panic pause first, then contact support with the diagnostic details from Settings.

Emergency usability

Use Safe Mode from the app when available. If Android is unstable, reboot the device, revoke Accessibility or VPN permission, and contact support.

Tester support

Email support@deetox.app with your device model, Android version, app version, and a short description of what happened.

Account data

Use in-app export and account deletion request tools during alpha. Safety audit logs may be retained to diagnose recovery failures.

Data we collect

DeeTox collects account identifiers, authentication/session data, selected app package metadata, usage and intervention settings, accountabili-buddy verification status, protected action approvals, diagnostic logs, and alpha safety audit events. Buddy phone numbers and approval records are handled server-side.

Why we collect it

We use this data to operate the app, verify accounts and buddies, enforce protected accountability flows, tune interventions within safety limits, diagnose crashes, and support alpha recovery.

Firebase and service providers

DeeTox uses Firebase for cloud account support, phone verification, user management, hosting, and testing workflows. Other providers may be used for email, diagnostics, analytics, database hosting, and support operations.

Permissions

The Android alpha may request Usage Access, Accessibility, VPN, notifications, foreground service, and phone-number self-check permissions. These permissions support intervention behavior, recovery controls, accountability, and tester safety.

Your choices

You can revoke Android permissions, export diagnostic data, request account deletion, remove or replace an accountabili-buddy with required approval, and contact support for recovery help.
